Do you let your children eat from your plate without asking them first?
In this strange world of what is and is not a behavior socially acceptable, where do you fit in? Of course I will discuss this matter at the age I am not talking about babies and toddlers who do not know better than to seize and snacks without asking, I'm talking about 4 years and over, when they have a little more aware of the label. And I'm going to define the parameter as a birthday bbq outdoor event where children were playing too busy to want to sit for their own plates, when it's time to serve food. I have seen parents who think it's perfectly fine for their child to come to their plate and eat. I because the parents say, "Excuse me, but if you want something, ask first" is a softer way to say it is ok and socially acceptable. I have seen parents who scold their children, and say: "If you want something, tell me and I'll give you your own plate, it is not nice to take someone else's plate. "What is acceptable to you?
I think it's important to teach your children to respect the boundaries of others. I really do not like to eat on my plate, I would say, and I expect that they would respect my wishes. It would be a big deal, but if they tried to eat someone else's plate.
